Q: Who can use Advocates Online?

Anyone who has served for one day or more, full-time with the Australian Defence Forces. It doesn’t matter what country you now live in. If you have injuries or illnesses caused by your Australian Defence Force service you should use Advocates Online. If you should have been medically discharged or are being medically discharged you should use Advocates Online.

Once you have completed your needs assessment, you will be sent a recommendations report via email. This report is completely free.

Q: What happens after I book a call with the Senior Consultant?

You will be sent a generic intake form so the Senior Consultant has some information to work with when you have your call. Your intake call will take between 30 – 45 minutes depending on how complex your situation. If you decide to proceed, the Senior Consultant will discuss the next steps, including general time frames, legal agreement and how you can access immediate medical or welfare assistance.

Q: Once you sign the legal agreement?

After you review and sign the legal agreement you have a five day cooling off period. Once that period expires you will be allocated to the AO claims team who will review your intake, develop the Claims Battleplan and arrange to have a confirmatory discussion with you about the next steps. They will send you the Claims plan, with general timeframes for DVA processing, may request preliminary treatment access for you and will agree with you your preferred method of communication.

Q: Claims submission by AO?

Once you and the advocate agree to the claims to be submitted, they will complete the submission to DVA within 48 hours. Once they submit they will send you a confirmation email notifying you they have been sent. Then it is pretty much a waiting game and you utilise the PAMT – treatment requests to focus on your health and wellbeing.
